On July 15th, a publication launch party for BRUTUS magazine's "Bangkok/Chiang Mai" special issue was held at SOHO HOUSE BANGKOK. The doors opened at 7:00 PM. When we, the BRUTUS team arrived in the early afternoon, we found Pyra coordinating with the setup staff in the waiting room, and artist TRK installing panels that would also serve as a photo booth.

SOHO HOUSE BANGKOK bills itself as "a members-only club for creative people," and the atmosphere lives up to that promise. The interior maintains traditional Thai elements while adding a perfectly balanced touch of contemporary sensibility, making it easy to arrange and suitable for various events.

That evening's party took over the second and third floors, the first-floor entrance saw a constant stream of luxury cars, and the lounge connecting to the pool and garden was filled with people engaged in lively conversation. It's easy to understand Pyra's earlier comment that this was "the perfect place to express BRUTUS's exclusive worldview."

The venue setup proceeded smoothly, with the DJ booth particularly worth noting. It featured plastic chairs and tables used at Thai street stalls, with a showcase displaying items with Thai motifs. Pyra's creative team pulled it off with excellent taste.

The DJ booth setup. In addition to the BRUTUS sign, there's also a signboard reading "Thai Food." Full of humor.

Once the venue opened, invited influencers began arriving one after another. Actors, musicians, artists, entrepreneurs... people with various titles appeared at the venue, took photos in front of TRK's shooting panel, then wandered through the space with drinks in hand, enjoying their time while losing themselves in the music the DJs played. Local Thai media also reported on the event, demonstrating the high level of attention it received.

About an hour after opening, one person's arrival caused a stir in the venue. Bangkok Governor Chadchart appeared in his trademark vest. The governor shook hands with guests and took photos with them. Known as a down-to-earth politician close to the people, he was a popular figure at the BRUTUS party as well.

Once things settled down, Pyra, who also served as MC, took the microphone. She energetically explained the party's purpose, followed by Editor-in-Chief Mr. Tajima from Japan greeting the assembled guests, and Governor Chadchart expressing his gratitude for BRUTUS's focus on Bangkok. Editor-in-Chief Mr. Tajima presented flowers to the governor, and they pledged their mutual friendship.

The celebration continued in a joyful atmosphere late into the night. The BRUTUS team listened to local people's stories and exchanged many opinions about the current state of Bangkok and Tokyo, and what lies ahead. Here in Bangkok, far from Tokyo, there's a sense that something new is about to be born. It was an excellent start.
