Our guides from various cities, who love alcohol and delicious food, told us about their favorite bars. This time, we're looking at Kagoshima! Kagoshima is a city of drinkers, nestled in Sakurajima. As the kingdom of shochu, it's said that shochu flows through its veins. That's certainly true with such great bars.

Meizan VOUL

A marriage of local produce and spices. A curry restaurant that transforms into a bar at night

- Curry for lunch, alcohol and spicy dishes for dinner.
- Freshly ground spices that add a fragrant aroma to snacks such as fried sweet shrimp and tandoori chicken.
-Craft draft beer is also available.
- Brown sugar shochu, a specialty of the Amami Islands in Kagoshima, is mixed with soda and paired with ethnic fried noodles.
- On days when you don't feel refreshed, try cardamom shochu.

-We always have 15 brands of sweet potato shochu available, including seasonal varieties such as "Yamato Sakura" and "Nakamura."
・The proprietress's self-taught cuisine is a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine.
・The local food is chicken sashimi, seared.
- Homemade yuzu pepper is a versatile condiment.
・The owner and his wife are so kind, I'm sure I'll be coming back. Honestly, I could go there every day.

The appetizers of firefly squid and whelk cooked in soy sauce are also delicious. Potato salad is 500 yen, grilled amberjack is 1,000 yen, and one rice ball is 250 yen.

For example, strawberries and bonito wings marinated in yuzu pepper, and pan-fried dumplings with shrimp and fermented cabbage.

・Tokunoshima specialties include egg rice balls, koumakibuni (salted pig's feet), and miso peanuts.
