Hiroki Nakamoto's most expensive meal ever
A popular izakaya lunch is a surefire hit! A prolific journalist's favorite lunch
I've been there over 100 times in the last 20 years, and I order this 90% of the time. It comes with ginger pork served with cabbage and mayonnaise, rice, pork miso soup, a raw egg or seasoned nori seaweed, pickled vegetables, and even tuna belly, so much so that the bowl doesn't fit on the tray!
After enjoying the "nakaochi donburi" (rice bowl with tuna, wasabi, and finely seasoned seaweed on top of hot rice, drizzled with soy sauce), you can change up the flavor with a ginger pork set meal for a full stomach. When I was just starting out, I was looked after by Ujita Fukutoki, the 11th head of Tamanohikari Sake Brewery, and I have been going there for a long time because they have the best lunch in Otemachi.
