Daisuke Matsushima's My Rules
A masterpiece from about 50 years ago that will undoubtedly lift your spirits when you put it on.
Items that evoke the American landscape of my student days are essential to my wardrobe. Down jackets are no exception. I'm sensitive to the cold, so I value specifications, but there are plenty of older items that are light and offer excellent warmth.
One of them is an original jacket from Zaski Hut, an outdoor shop that led the mountaineering boom in Berkeley, USA in the 1970s. I love the warm bronze color, and I have three jackets from different eras that I love.
The original model has raglan sleeves that fit comfortably on the shoulders and a double zipper on the front. It's also incredibly comfortable when traveling by bike or car. The only thing I was worried about was how to maintain the down jacket, but after I found a dry cleaner that specializes in vintage items, I no longer have to worry about that!

This Logan Jacket is from Trailwise, an original brand developed by Zaskie Hut, a long-established outdoor shop in Berkeley, California, which closed in 1982. Released in 1971, this classic jacket underwent numerous revisions, with early models featuring raglan sleeves and angled pockets.
Coordinated Items

Matsushima says, "I love the combination of bronze and dark brown," and has achieved the ideal color combination with her scarf and gloves. Both are from Balloon, knitted from warm possum fur. In addition to the espresso color, she uses a total of five colors.
Keiko Kitamura's My Rules
Great for wearing or displaying, with a folk art-like appearance
Downwear is an item that is expected to be convenient and functional as cold weather clothing, but I don't really like clothes that are solely focused on that. I feel an attachment to items that are made with handcrafted craftsmanship that cannot be measured by efficiency alone.
However, there aren't many such items in the world, so I asked Rocky Mountain to create a down vest that can be cherished like a piece of folk art. The body is a combination of striped Dewa cotton, a material used in kimonos, and orange nylon taffeta. Its beautiful appearance makes it a great addition to your outfit, and makes you want to display it even after you've taken it off, so I like to hang it on the coat hook in my entryway and admire it.
Just having this one piece of clothing will make you look forward to autumn every year.

This reversible vest, custom-made by MOGI Folk Art, is based on Rocky Mountain's ultra-lightweight Six Month down vest. The body is made of nylon taffeta and deadstock Yamagata Dewa Momen cotton, a material used for kimonos. Due to the delicate fabric, each piece is carefully crafted on a production line that also makes samples.
Coordinated Items

The standard look is sweatshirts from autumn to winter, and a down vest over a T-shirt in early spring. The basic grey and piece-dyed green are specially ordered from Sanka with a print related to MOGI Folk Art.
