For those who love curry
A must-have, a long-selling product from Hobonichi
Hobonichi's "Curry Returns"
Since its release in 2013, "Curry no Ongaeshi" has been a beloved staple product of Hobonichi. It is a spice mix created by Hobonichi's CEO, Shigesato Itoi. Itoi, a curry lover, arrived at this blend after much trial and error, and has been commercialized in collaboration with spice specialist brand Mascot. Simply add it to your usual curry to instantly brighten up the aroma and flavor of this magical "delicious spice."
The 12 spices used are cardamom, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, pink pepper, cloves, chili pepper, laurel, fennel, fenugreek, and lemongrass. Each spice is ground in a different way to create a nice crunch, adding a delightful touch.
What's great about this "Curry no Ongaeshi" is that it contains no salt or other seasonings, and only 12 kinds of spices. Of course, it also contains no additives such as flavorings or preservatives. This means that it enhances the aroma and flavor while not interfering with the flavor.
So, of course you can add it to your homemade curry, but you can also add it to stir-fried vegetables, fried rice, or croquettes, or use it as a marinade for fried chicken or chicken tikka, or add it to mizutaki to make a curry hotpot, or if you like noodles, add it to a bonito broth soy sauce soup to make the most authentic curry udon you'll find at soba restaurants.
You can also customize it to your own original curry salt or curry mayo and add it to tempura or other fried foods, or just sprinkle a little on salted rice crackers to create the perfect flavor change to go with your drinks. It's incredibly versatile!
The package says, "A spice to quietly add to your home-cooked curry." What a catchy slogan. Its modesty and generosity quietly support the main ingredient. It's a classic spice that I want to keep in my home.
