Nusara: Enjoy a fresh take on traditional Thai cuisine while overlooking Wat Pho

When traveling, the first thing you want to do is visit popular tourist spots and try the local traditional cuisine. What if there was a place where you could do both at the same time?

Under the night sky, the beautifully shining temple of Wat Pho, a symbol of Bangkok, spreads out before your eyes. Enjoying a meal in front of this fantastical view is truly dramatic. Bangkok has many unique restaurants, but Nusara is the one that most evokes the travel urge.

The inspiration for the cuisine comes from Chef Tong's childhood memories of dining with his grandmother. The restaurant's name comes from his grandmother's name. The course menu consists of around 12 dishes, including traditional Thai dishes such as red curry, tom yum goong, and tom kha gai, but the dishes that are actually served are often quite surprising.

Take Kaeng Poo, a classic southern Thai yellow curry with crab, usually served with thin rice noodles called sen mee. However, here, crispy fried sen mee is placed on top of the spicy, rich curry, and sprinkled with chili, turmeric, and black pepper powder to add color.

The iconic street food, gapow, is served with a beautifully marinated steak. The chef's playful spirit transforms this ordinary, unpretentious Thai dish into a modern reimagining, elevating it to a special dish.

The chef's younger brother, sommelier Tam, carefully selects wines from Thai wineries, and there is also a selection of local Thai sake, which makes for a fun pairing with the food.

As a highlight of the trip, we would like to savor with all five senses a new form of Thai tradition at a charming restaurant in a house that is over 50 years old.
