Drinking hot tea and taking a meaningless shower, my lover is crying too, it's a summer of resignation

"Giving Up on Summer" / 1982

What seems like the end of love is actually the bittersweet beginning of a relationship, and the song's portrayal is excellent. Naoko Ken 's cover version was also a big hit.

The marching trumpet sounds... The swallows dance,

"Chasing the Flowing Clouds" / 1982

Featuring vocals by Hara Yuko, this song is based on the fact that Kuwata's father was a repatriate from Manchuria, and strikes a chord with faint nostalgia with an anti-war message.

Every night, I tearfully ask for her telephone number

Woo Wee, you're so amazing I want to hug you from the bottom of my heart (repeat)

"Lament of a Female Poet" / 1982

Kuwata's comparison of the silence of his beloved woman to a female poet is truly poetic. The three consecutive "That's the best" lines make you want to read them out loud.

"Cat" / 1982

This is one of Southern All Stars' best cat songs. Some people mistakenly believe it's from their album "Tiny Bubbles" which has a cat cover.

The Rolling Stones are a lovely London Erection

"Come to Jamaica" / 1982

The reggae-inspired wordplay is brilliant. Nowhere else in the world does the rhyme "London" and "Erection" sound.

Words always reflect each other's hearts, but if we just rely on each other, it seems like it will just pass us by

"Just A Little Bit" / 1982

The song has a calm and subdued feel, but the development from "Just being able to do it" to Harabo joining the chorus is wonderful.

As much as my body is in a good mood, so many times

"BODY SPECIAL II" / 1983

A huge hit on the lewd route. The depth of the kanji "Majiwari"! Incidentally, "Ⅰ" is almost entirely instrumental.

I put yesterday's love into the ashtray and go to sleep, but when I'm alone, my words just fly around the room

"EMANON" / 1983

Southern-style AOR. Many fans love this song. The lyrics describe adult love for a slightly older audience. If you read the title backwards, it becomes "NO NAME."

Under the blue sky, dance as if in a dream

"ALLSTARS' JUNGO" / 1983

The mix of Japanese, rough accents and English is simply overwhelming, rivaling the intensity of 80s Afro-funk.

The man guarding the devil's fortress standing directly opposite is huge.

"Matilda Baby" / 1983

The setting is a sci-fi one reminiscent of an anime or game. The lyrics, which blend Kuwata's boyishness with the reckless nature of love, are a new frontier.

A romance between the forest and the springs, a pure play of playing with flowers, that group somehow differs from love

"Woman of the Red Flame" / 1983

Although it has a theme of what we would now call LGBTQ, it expresses sexual love between women from one perspective, and the words dance in a flamenco style.

A dramatized depiction of a failing relationship in under four minutes. A bad feeling in "September Wind"!

Don't be timid. Everyone, no matter what race, strives to grow. Yeah!

"YELLOW NEW YORKER" / 1983

While it seems like a song of encouragement for Japanese people striving to realize their dreams in New York, it also points out the harsh reality.

Without you, I wouldn't have a song

"MICO" / 1983
