When I was in high school and worried about whether I would ever become an adult, I heard Hoshino's song "Kodomo" (Children) and the lyrics "If two children get together, they can become adults together" struck me and gave me peace of mind.
From there, I started listening to other songs, and eventually I had the opportunity to play and sing "Kudaranai no Naka ni" on my radio show. It was a clumsy performance, but I sang it while once again savoring the beauty of the song.
Hoshino himself may not be aware of it, but I feel he is someone who lives with a sense of mission towards his own existence and towards his fans. I also think that this is why he continues to make music so that he won't die. I chose music that I wanted to deliver to this kind yet fearsome Hoshino.
This song makes you feel that kindness for others can also mean self-sacrifice. Hoshino is someone everyone knows, but I feel like there's something hidden that seems visible but isn't, which reminded me of this song.
It's just so cool, and I absolutely love Togawa's vocals and Hijokaidan's noise. I chose this song to match the sense of fear I feel deep within the gentle Hoshino.
I believe that having a sense of mission can either give meaning to life or be a detriment to living. I wrote this song when I was at my mental limit amidst that conflict. I feel like Hoshino-san can relate to it.
