Gourmet: Yoyogi Park Gourmet Ai - A quick meal perfect for boosting your energy

This is a popular series in BRUTUS introducing restaurants by theme. This time, the theme is "I'm in the mood for horses these days." Horse meat restaurants are thriving, with new establishments opening one after another, as well as the traditional sakura nabe. Horse meat is high in protein and low in calories. It is also popular among those who work out, as it is rich in nutrients that help with muscle growth and fatigue recovery. What's more, it's OK to eat it raw. Why not boost your horsepower with horse meat?

Gourmet Ai (Yoyogi Park)

Perfect for a quick snack to give you energy

This horse meat restaurant has a fast food feel. It's located on the second floor of a small building in a corner of an alley in Oku-Shibuya. The interior is simply a U-shaped counter surrounding the kitchen. It has a simple, unassuming interior, with no unnecessary elements, but that's what makes it great.

The main dish is horse fillet and beef skirt steak. The horse meat is from Uruguay. The meat is cut into bite-sized pieces and grilled, so it might be better to call it diced steak. Once an order is placed, it is made in a flash.

The most popular dishes are horse fillet steak and rare horse hamburger. The size of the hamburger is fixed at 120g throughout the menu, but the horse and beef steaks can be any size from 120g to 500g. You can choose to season it with either salt and pepper or Chaliapin (a soy sauce-based onion sauce). For rice, you can choose from white rice, brown rice, or garlic rice. For offal lovers, there is also motsumeshi (offal rice).

It's open all day, so it's great if you miss your mealtime.
