The comedy duo Evers have achieved success in numerous award competitions, including winning the 2024 NHK New Face Comedy Awards and placing fourth in their first appearance in the finals of the M-1 Grand Prix. Both members have experience playing baseball, with Sasaki in particular serving as captain of a powerful baseball team. They say that the spirit of that time is still present in their manzai.
"I feel like my sense of humor was cultivated because I was on the baseball team. When I think about it now, I get scolded so much that it makes no sense (laughs). That's the kind of humor that lies in the absurdity of comedy. I think it's material that I could create because I only played baseball throughout my school days." (Sasaki)

Stick to what you think is cool, even if it doesn't make sense

On the morning of the first day, Machida was five hours late for the rehearsal. Since this was his first time at the nationals, I thought he would be able to give it his all this time, but it was just like always.
Kazuki Machida
I slept for about 11 hours.
Sasaki
The "windup" in the tour title is a baseball term. It refers to the action of throwing with a full swing, but in modern baseball, almost everyone throws from a set position. It's becoming extinct because it involves a lot of movement and takes time, and is considered meaningless. But even so, I thought that this meaningless movement is cool and romantic, so that's why I chose it to sound a little cool.
Machida
I think it's a really good title.
Sasaki
Even in manzai, they don't try to make it easy to understand and laugh, but I think it's cool that they have natural conversations that are funny.
Machida
It's cooler and more honest if it matches your age and lifestyle.
Sasaki
In my mind, this tour will refine our new material, and by the final stop in Osaka, only the strongest material from among the material we've created up to that point will remain. This year marks our 10th year since we formed, but even in another 10 years, we'll still be doing solo shows every year and selling out our national tours in no time. I also want to become famous.
Machida
When I look at my seniors who are about 10 years older than me and think, wow, they're still going strong like this, it's amazing.
Sasaki
Are they fighting? Are they arguing?
Machida
No (laughs), we're just doing what we think is fun. So it would be amazing if we could become something that people 10 years our juniors think of us like that.
