Talking about the sneakers I like the most right now. Designer Yuichi Toyama of YUICHI TOYAMA., editor Masayuki Ozawa, etc.

As we dress up in light spring clothing, what kind of sneakers should we choose to complete our look? Classic low-tech or high-tech with the latest specs? We asked four people from various industries about the pair they want to wear right now.

Designer Yuichi Toyama

〈CONVERSE〉Jack Purcell
Brand:CONVERSE
Model:Jack Purcell

A classic, classic sneaker that has been replaced many times

There is a reason why Toyama wears Converse's Jack Purcell shoes, which have been loved throughout the ages.

"They have presence and style, but also a clean look with no unnecessary decoration. There are details on the toe that make them recognizable, and I think they are a pair of shoes that embodies beauty without the need for a logo. For someone like me who has worn them out and bought new ones over and over again, these are timeless sneakers."

He plans to continue using it a lot in 2025 as well.

"I wear a lot of monochrome outfits, so I'd like to wear pale colors, such as a bal collar coat, a loose pale knit, and loose slacks, to create a spring-like look."

Stylist Michio Hayashi

〈JORDAN BRAND〉AIR JORDAN 37
Brand:NIKE
Model:AIR JORDAN 37

The size of the numbers reflects the attention to detail in the shoes.

Hayashi selected the Air Jordan 37, released in 2022, from Nike's Air Jordan series, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025.

"I was attracted to the coexistence of nostalgia and innovation. The design is inspired by the classic Air Jordan 7, but it also has high-tech features, which is what makes it appealing. It's also great that there aren't many people wearing the same thing. Since they're basketball shoes, I'm thinking of wearing them with shorts this spring. Separately, after being completely committed to Nike for a long time, I'm also feeling like trying out sneakers from a different manufacturer for a change."

YLÈVE designer Reiko Taguchi

〈New Balance〉2002R
Brand:New Balance
Model:2002R

A timeless basic design packed with meticulous attention to detail

ILEVE's manufacturing is characterized by its attention to detail, such as delicate colors, textures of materials, and patterns adjusted down to the millimeter. New Balance, which shares this philosophy, is a brand that Taguchi has been wearing since he was in high school.

"I like how they combine timeless design with ever-evolving functionality. The 2002R is characterized by its multi-layered upper and sole, and the exquisite navy gradation is beautiful. I'd like to wear them lightly with shorts and thick Corgi socks. The slightly rounded toe gives them a not-too-smart, uncle-like feel, which I also love."

〈Adidas Originals〉ADICLOG
Brand:Adidas Originals
Model:ADICLOG

Adding nostalgic feelings to the current mood

"My rule when choosing shoes is, 'If you only look at your feet, you won't find the shoes you want.' The rest is timing," says Ozawa. The Adidas Originals AdiClog is a revival model that has just been released for the first time in 25 years.

"Considering the current trends, I think now is the best time to wear them. The nostalgia and mood of Spring/Summer 2025 match perfectly with the timing of this reissue. Another point I appreciate is that, like the original, they are made in Italy. I've been wearing more and more knitwear in soft colors and clothes made from natural materials, so I want to wear them as softly as possible to match those outfits."

Talking about their favorite sneakers right now. Stylist Masataka Hattori, owner of NICK WHITE, Shigeru Umezawa, etc.

Talking about the sneakers that are currently popular. Florist Yasutaka Ochi, designer Ryo Kashiwazaki of Hender Scheme, etc.

My current favorite sneakers: TaiTan, Tatsumasa Onuki, etc.
