Because Southern All Stars are still active, our youth continues to be updated.

Maki Narahara

(My impression after listening to the new album) They really did it.

Junnosuke Dei

Huh? You did it?

Narahara

Southern have done it again...

Idei

What do you mean?

Narahara

It means that they have produced another masterpiece.

Idei

It's noisy (lol).

Narahara

It's about time you stopped disappointing us, what are you going to do? I'm sure all the young musicians are thinking this too, how long are you going to stay active?

Idei

I mean that in a good way, really. My impression is that it's a mature album. I feel like the album has a message for the next generation.

Narahara

I'm the type of person who likes songs from the melody, so I liked "A Gift from God." The lyrics incorporate titles of famous Showa era songs like "Until We Meet Again."

Idei

This shows appreciation for pop music as a whole. The scale is huge!

Narahara

There's a line in the song that goes, "I enjoyed my youth with my idolized star and my favorite song," but for us it's Southern All Stars.

Idei

I also liked the line in "Two People in a Darkening City": "A city where two shadows, swaying helplessly, come into contact."

Narahara

The lyrics tell a story.

Idei

It's been a while since I've heard lyrics that are a bit more assertive than the "bad guy" type that Kuwata is so good at.

Narahara

In "The Most Terrifying Monster in History," the "Yare yare" sounds like "Yaren, Yaren."

Idei

That's quite something to say.

Narahara

And if only you could say "z"! Kuwata-san! (laughs)

Idei

This song is like a message to the whole planet, isn't it? It's amazing. It has a message, but it doesn't say anything specific, leaving it up to us. Pop music should have that kind of element. That's what Southern All Stars and Kuwata are known for.

On the other hand, in "Boogie Woogie Nights," it's "arousal by tube tops." Is that still enough to arouse me? (laughs) Even though I'm approaching the end of my 30s, tube tops don't arouse me anymore.

Narahara

Thanks to Southern All Stars still being active, we can always renew our youth without it becoming a memory.
