What is reflected on the thickly painted screen depicting a light motif
Goro Nagashima's "Fruitfully Head 1"
While providing illustrations for magazines and advertisements, Nagashima Goro has continued to paint using a variety of art media, including watercolors, acrylics, and colored pencils. At the end of his career spanning a quarter of a century, he has arrived at abstract oil paintings of fantastical mountains and people he has never met, such as his beloved musicians.
In contrast to the pop and light-hearted motifs, the thick layers of paint convey the richness of the time the artist has spent facing the canvas. Meanwhile, the somewhat dark canvases strongly reflect the influence of the artist's childhood art experiences and anti-war education, which are his roots, and are an interesting reflection of his inner self.
