A rich picture created by experimenting with lines and ground
Shinya Hoki's "Untitled"
Although the work is abstract, the artist himself can be said to be a painter who continues to meticulously pursue lines and strokes. Shinya Hoki's paintings hardly reflect concrete images, the artist's emotions, or emotional mental landscapes.
He practices drawing hundreds of lines on paper and then applies that knowledge to his work on canvas. He uses almost exclusively four colors: blue, purple, brown, and green. Despite the physicality of repeated hand movements and the limited use of paint, his paintings are incredibly rich and complex, and I believe you'll never tire of looking at them.
