Gallery PARCEL recommends this art to buy now: Tomonari Hashimoto's "Untitled"

We asked art galleries and shops in Tokyo, "If you were to buy art now, what kind of art would you buy?" Paintings, sculptures, photographs. All of them are small pieces of art that can be displayed in a room. This includes future star artists who are on the verge of breaking out!

A sculpture that combines a sense of weight and lightness

Tomonari Hashimoto's "Untitled"

Based in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, which is famous for Shigaraki ware, this artist primarily creates ceramic sculptures. As you can see from his works, he creates ceramic sculptures with geometric and minimalist forms, but he uses glazes that contain a lot of metallic elements, and chemical changes caused by uneven kiln temperatures result in extremely deep rainbow colors.

This is a series that the artist has been working on in recent years. Delicate ceramic pieces are layered with heavy lumps of mortar. The contrast and combination of the materials creates an exquisite sense of incongruity, giving the pieces a sense of weightiness yet lightness, exuding a mysterious charm.
