Inject some humor and sting into your life
The living room of rapper TaiTan's home has a high ceiling and a comfortable space where white walls and wooden fixtures harmonize. The built-in bookshelf has a display shelf where the couple displays their favorite things. The soft vinyl toy gazing at us with its round gaze is a work by Saeborg. It was the first piece of art TaiTan had ever purchased.
Saeborg
"It's a work by an artist who works in the performing arts. I like vivid textures, and this one has a wonderful texture. There's no limit to the amount of soft vinyl monsters and American comics you can collect, but even one of an artist's work has enough presence." He hesitated and went home, but then changed his mind. "I'm also a musician, so I try to buy as many works as possible from artists I like. This will lead to the artist's next activities and give back to them."
Propped up on the table is a framed religious-like painting with two meaningful eyes. It's a work by the owner and artist Kobayashi Makoto, purchased at Out of Museum in Hanegi. "I didn't know he was an artist, but I bought it because I liked the visuals," says TaiTan, who seems to have a penchant for slightly sinister works. The art he selected with his discerning eye adds an exotic spice to the gently lit space.
