Three points
1. The latest store of an internationally acclaimed cosmetics brand.
2. The old building was boldly renovated, leaving only its framework.
3. The huge works of woodcarver Lee Jae-hyun are a sight to behold.
You'll be captivated by the underground garden! The flagship store of Korean cosmetics brand TAMBURINS
TAMBURINS, a sister brand of the popular eyewear brand GENTLE MONSTER, launched in 2017. Following on from Sinsa and Samcheong, the brand opened its flagship store in Seongsu, one of Seoul's hottest areas, last fall. The theme for the new store is "Viewer in the garden."
The building has been boldly renovated, leaving only the framework of the three-story reinforced concrete structure. The basement features a "garden" with a large piece of art by Lee Jae-hyun, a contemporary wood sculptor who is highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally.
The Seongsu store is positioned as a showroom, and is the first to stock new products. The Egg Perfume, which was unveiled for the first time at the store, attracted long lines of people hoping to purchase the pearl chain, which was only available on the opening day, and sold out immediately. Fragrant products, such as Perfume Hand, another series of hand cream that is the origin of the brand and can be used instead of perfume, are lined up in a spacious space.

In Korea, conglomerates often provide free spaces where people can experience art and high-quality creativity, such as Hyundai Card Spaces run by Hyundai and the LEEUM art museum founded by Samsung.
While the creation of stores that utilize the capital of large corporations has been described as "a pastime for aristocrats who don't skimp on money," there's no doubt that it has also raised the aesthetic standards of the general public and played a role in raising the level of the industry as a whole. This ambition can also be seen in TAMBURINS, which opened an extraordinary store in Seisui, where land prices have risen sharply in recent years.
