Did you see the "Oda Collection Hans Wegner Exhibition," which was held at Shibuya Hikarie in Tokyo from December 2013 to January of this year? If there is such a thing as a legendary exhibition that people will remember for years to come, saying, "I'm glad I saw it then," then this Wegner exhibition is surely one of them.

Chair researcher Noritsugu Oda oversaw the entire exhibition and provided many of the world's most valuable chairs and materials. In this special feature, we visited Oda's new home in Sapporo and had him show us some of his favorite chairs.

Models of classic chairs are displayed in Hamada's workshop. Each one is of such high quality that it is indistinguishable from the original in terms of both material and shape.

Also attracting a lot of attention at the exhibition was the 1/5 scale model of a classic chair. A special video introduces the work of furniture craftsman Hamada Yuichi, who created the entire piece all by himself. The beautiful finish is complemented by the snowy scenery of Maibara, Shiga, where his workshop is located. Please take a look.
