The designer's creativity shines through in the slight discomfort caused by the arm.

When choosing a chair, the most important thing is how much of the designer's creativity can be felt from it. This perspective remains the same not only for items to be sold, but also for items to be used daily. I placed this easy chair in my workplace, where I sit when I want to take a break or think, and after digging deeper from that perspective, I immediately fell in love with its charm.

It has a chrome-plated frame, black leather seats, and colorful and uniquely shaped arms. Each element of the material, shape, and color creates a slight sense of incongruity when viewed in relation to the overall balance, and I like its mysterious appearance so much that I have been using it as my personal item for several years.

Designed in 1982, it was created by Finnish designer Urijo Kukkapuuro. In the 1960s, he created the masterpiece "Karseli Chair" and even served as the president of the Helsinki University of Art and Design. For many years, he balanced his career as an educator and designer, but his desire to create grew stronger, and from 1980 he dedicated himself to design once again. This chair was the first project of his second career. The fact that it was named "Experiment" suggests that it was a chair born from an ambitious attempt to take a step forward in design.

Unlike Italy's Memphis and other groups, which took an artsy approach amid the postmodern movement that was happening almost simultaneously across Europe in the 1980s, they have continued to expand their expression while maintaining the rationality and functionality of modernism. In that respect, they are also considered to be Scandinavian.

This chair is a prime example of this, and because it's constructed based on ergonomics, it's very comfortable to sit on. It emphasizes the creative aspect of expression while also being functional, and what's particularly noteworthy is that it's reasonably compact and fits well into Japanese homes. It's a rare piece that strikes a perfect balance between functionality and decorativeness, and it fits my current mood perfectly.
