On your New Year's wish list

Our "Ideal Bookshelf" special feature continued in 2023 and 2024, and this time we once again visited the bookshelves of some of your most wonderful readers.

The highlight of this special feature is not only the impressive bookshelves, but also the fact that five books selected from those shelves have been introduced, and they are all very interesting.

For example, TV director Kentaro Fujii.

He also introduces books related to martial arts and hip-hop, which give a glimpse into his interests in his everyday work, as well as novels by Ryu Murakami, which he was obsessed with during his student days. What was Fujii's student life like? This was a valuable interview that gave us a glimpse into his life through his books.

Konari Misato, a manga artist known for numerous hits such as "Nagi no Oitoma," picked out "Stackable" by Matsuda Aoko, who portrays characters from multiple perspectives, as well as five other books. Feeling a connection between her work and Konari's, I devoured Matsuda's novel and Konari's manga, even though they were still in the final stages of proofreading.

I was overwhelmed with books I wanted to read...that was the best part of reporting on this special feature, and also a source of joy.

There are also many other books that could be good "recommended reading" for the New Year holidays, so please take a look!

"Stackable" (by Aoko Matsuda)
Stackable (by Aoko Matsuda) is an impressive book, hard to believe it was published in 2013.
