The natural cleanliness is in the details
A beauty salon is, as the name suggests, a place that offers treatments to beautify one's appearance. However, Fujimizaka Yaguchi, run by Yaguchi Kenichi, is not like that. They will make you beautiful and clean not only on the outside, but also on the inside. The best example of this is the "Shirodhara" treatment, which is performed at the private shampooing stations.
"It's a traditional therapy used in meditation that originated in India and has been around for about 5,000 years. It involves dripping a liquid continuously onto the center of the forehead. In Sri Lanka, they use sesame oil blended with medicinal herbs, but we use 100% herbal water. It's also good for the skin, so you can expect a treatment effect as well.
If you continue this for about 15 to 20 minutes, you will feel like you are "in tune" after alternating between the sauna and the cold bath, just like when you are taking an open-air bath, and sometimes you can even see a flower field (laughs). Before you think about your appearance, it is also important to first settle your mind in order to create a feeling of cleanliness. I would like men who find it difficult to go to beauty salons to try Shirodhara."
However, the treatment doesn't begin straight away. First, a massage is given to circulate cerebrospinal fluid that has become stagnant due to fatigue, and once the body is relaxed, it's time for Shirodhara. When we asked art producer Chihiro Matsumoto, who served as our model, to try it, she said, "It was a strange sensation, but it helped me relax."
Once the inside is clean, it's time to move on to the outside. For this, Yaguchi takes out the Denki Bari Brush from Electron, a comprehensive beauty manufacturer.
"The low frequency waves emitted from the pinhead stimulate the scalp and facial muscles, which can be expected to lift the skin. I often use this when I'm working on a photoshoot. It's quite effective, and it tightens up the puffy face caused by a hangover."
Indeed, perhaps due to the morning shoot, Matsumoto, who looked a little tired, now looks slimmer.
It's important not to overdo it in order to make the most of each person's individuality.
In fact, the hair had been cut before Shirodhara, but it looked like it had barely been touched up other than trimming the ends. This is where Yaguchi's attention to detail lies.
"If you shave your hair off completely, you might be able to create a clean look, but then you lose your true individuality. Everyone has their own personality, so when it comes to hairstyles, it's hard to say, 'This will give you a clean look.'
In fact, there are people who don't look untidy even with long hair. However, if the sides are too messy, it's not very good, so I trim them down. For me, the best thing is to be able to express a natural, neat look while still retaining the individuality of the person."

The natural clean look comes from the details, not the hairstyle.
"Mr. Matsumoto's eyebrows were thin, so I added a few more. Nowadays, you can change the direction of your eyebrows with a perm, so you can adjust the length and curl, or if your hair is dry, add a little shine with styling products. These kinds of small adjustments will lead to a natural, clean look that is unique to that person. However, in either case, I think it's important not to overdo it."
Don't overdo it, and that applies to styling your hair, too.
"This time, I just applied Nagano's Wild Tree balm all over to add movement. This is fine, but if you want to keep your bangs in place, try TRENDSTARTER pomade. The balm is organic, so you can use it on your lips or elbows. You don't need to wash your hands after use, just apply it somewhere, so it's recommended for men like me who don't like to bother with things."
