Your own personal history engraved in your clothes: The case of fashion director Yosuke Otsubo

Should you repair holes or scratches in your clothes or accessories? Which option you choose will change the look of the item. You can enjoy repairing it in your own way, or you can choose to leave it as it is and retain your attachment to it. The choice you make will reveal the owner's aesthetic sense and values.

The clothes you repair, along with the memories of your youth, will remain as a testament to your life.

"Repairing is not just about restoring an item to its original condition, but also about building up memories. I would be happy if the item becomes a piece that can be passed on to the next generation," says Otsubo Yosuke.

“The Swing Star driving jacket is a precious piece that I inherited from my friend from my time in Los Angeles, Shige Suganuma of Moon Eyes. I attached colorful patches that I collected in the 1990s to the body and replaced the elastic at the cuffs.

For Levi's® 501 jeans, I reinforce the frayed coin pocket with sashiko thread myself, and for areas that are subject to high stress, such as the knees and crotch, I ask Kazu Miura of YMFACTORY, who is the best repair technician in the universe, to repair them."
