A personal history engraved in clothes: The case of stylist Yuta Kaji

Should you repair holes or scratches in your clothes or accessories? Which option you choose will change the look of the item. You can enjoy repairing it in your own way, or you can choose to leave it as it is and retain your attachment to it. The choice you make will reveal the owner's aesthetic sense and values.

The fading and neck hole remain intact. 20 years of history with the black T-shirt

Yuta Kaji's Pro Club and Hanes T-shirts have been his companions for the past 20 years. He has continued to wear them in their original condition, even though they are faded, have stretched necks, and have holes.

"In the end, what I truly love are timeless clothes that I can wear every day without worrying about anything. In particular, I have about 30 black Pro Club T-shirts stored at home, all of which are well-worn. The holes and fraying give them a unique character that no one else can imitate," she says.

"The texture of cotton changes with the times, so I can't throw them away no matter how worn out they are. Nowadays, there are a lot of functional T-shirts, such as quick-drying ones, but it's hard to get the same tough look as the old days. Even if the fabric gets thinner or the color changes from sun exposure, I still want to wear them."
