『A Moveable Feast』

It's a memoir that leaves you with mixed feelings while reading.

This book was a gift from Saiichi Maruya. However, it wasn't given to me directly. When I visited his home to pay my respects after he passed away, his son said to me, "Murakami-san, if you like, please take any books you like from my father's library." So I unhesitantly took a paper bag full of interesting-looking books from the shelves lined with original English books.

Looking at his bookshelf, I was impressed and thought, "Mr. Maruya must have really studied hard." It was a very tasteful collection. This Hemingway book, "A Moveable Feast," was one of them.

This book is full of stories about Scott Fitzgerald, but not very well. Hemingway, in a somewhat condescending way, sympathizes with Scott as he struggles with the effects of alcohol. But he himself eventually becomes addicted to alcohol and takes his own life. It's a memoir that leaves you with mixed feelings.
