Nishino Taishi and HORI's Down Rules

Downwear is essential for keeping warm in winter. Should you choose a jacket for extreme cold or a vest that can be worn all year round? Nishinoya owner Taishi Nishino and hairstylist HORI each have their own rules for choosing and how to incorporate it.

Nishino Daishi's My Rules

Slim your lower body to make the most of your unique volume

No matter what season it is, I feel at ease if I sprinkle a bit of sporty essence into my outfit. That's why down jackets, which exude a sporty feel derived from the outdoors, are a staple in my winter wardrobe. However, this is my first time wearing one made of leather.

To be honest, I've always had a bad feeling about leather jackets because of their sophisticated image, so I've avoided them, but I wanted to try something new, so I started by incorporating them into a familiar down jacket. What I like about jackets stuffed to the brim with down is that they not only function as a cold weather garment, but also add interest to the silhouette.

To highlight the unique volume, I wear slimmer pants than usual to balance the overall look.

YOKE
This York down jacket is available in a special colorway exclusively for the N&N Store. Each part, including the body, sleeves, and hood, can be detached, allowing for versatile styling options such as half-length, short sleeves, or no collar. It's also reversible, meaning the styling possibilities are endless, and having another jacket in a different color or fabric will allow for even more fun.

The pants are not extra thick, but rather "slightly thick."
He normally wears 40-inch jeans with a cinched fit, but when wearing a down jacket, 33-inch jeans fit him perfectly. The other two Neat pants are straight, and the other has a neat flare from the hips to below the knees.

HORI's My Rules

Basic appearance with high specs to withstand extreme cold

Due to the nature of my work, I often go on location shoots away from the city center, so I can't do without a down jacket to keep warm. I've been relying on this down jacket from THIS NEVER THAT so much lately that I can't even remember what brand I used to wear.

Apparently winters in Korea are colder than in Japan, and this jacket was made for that climate, so it feels like being under a duvet. The stand-up collar keeps the neck warm while keeping out the cold, and it's also lightweight. I'm the type of person who stocks up on anything I like, but this is the first time I've stocked up on outerwear.

Even after wearing it for four years, it still looks like new, so I think I can stick with it for another dozen years or so, including the ones I have in stock.

"I like the minimalist design with no visible stitching on the outside," says HORI, who has been wearing the GORE-TEX® down jacket from THIS IS NEVER THAT, a leading brand in the Korean street scene, for the past four years. The raglan sleeves mean that even if you go up one size, your shoulders will still look beautiful.
