The best part of watching a movie in a theater is being able to enjoy it with powerful, loud sound, which is something you can't easily experience with streaming.

To avoid regretting your decision to see a movie with compelling music after it has finished screening, Katsumi Watanabe of Soundtrack Brothers, a DJ duo with extensive experience in soundtracks from around the world, will be handpicking the best new movies currently in theaters with outstanding soundtracks.

"Twilight Warriors: Battle! Kowloon Walled City"

This action movie, the biggest hit in Hong Kong cinema history, stole the show in the first half of the year. It was released in Japan in January and is still running, with many movie fans returning to see it multiple times. The meticulously crafted Kowloon Walled City set is a highlight, but the music is also worth checking out.

"Yoko Oginome 's "Dancing Hero" and Koji Kikkawa's "Monica" add excitement to the exciting fight scenes."

"F1"

This super-fast, immersive entertainment film stars Brad Pitt and is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for films such as "Top Gun: Maverick." Not only are the racing scenes intense, but the soundtrack is also spectacular, featuring original songs by BLACKPINK's Rosé, Ed Sheeran, and Burna Boy.

"It's packed with trendy pop tunes, and the film's intense racing scenes are accompanied by a sharp score by Hans Zimmer."

Kim's Video

Kim's Video, a legendary video rental store that once stood in New York City, closed down. This documentary follows the director as he tracks down the fate of the store's collection of 55,000 rare videos.

"Kim's Video is fully stocked with not only films released to the general public, but also experimental and art films, and some of these works are sampled during the film, and of course the original score is played as is. Due to rights issues, it seems impossible to release a soundtrack, so it's all the more worth hearing in the theater."

Strange Darling

This suspense thriller was released this summer and has been praised by some fans, with repeat viewers continuing to come back.

"Singer-songwriter Z Berg's acoustic-guitar-driven soundtrack features 11 sweet, ethereal melodies. The beautiful music is a perfect match for the shocking story."

Substance

Contrary to the cute but somewhat outrageous promotional visuals, director Coralie Farrugia's plan was a brilliant success, and this dark sci-fi horror film has sparked mixed reviews.

"From the catchy exercise scene to the siren that rings throughout the film, and the pitch-black minimal beat at the end, Rafferty is the soundtrack composer. He has released highly original works on the prestigious UK label NINJA TUNE. Director Farja's decision to use such a quirky artist shows both his malice and innocence."

If you missed it, or if you saw it once but didn't pay attention to the music, be sure to go to the cinema!
