A place created to preserve tradition

SangGaDee Space

This community space was opened by Nussara, who runs a traditional textile shop in Chiang Mai, and her husband, architect Decha. The building is hand-built by Decha, and not only does it have shops selling folk crafts, but it also has a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal.

The entire building was handmade by Decha using bamboo and leaves! When viewed from above, it looks like a circle. Below it are many shops selling folk crafts and restaurants.

In search of ethnic minority handicrafts

Pa Ker Yaw

The owner, Bunlin, moved to Chiang Mai to work for an NGO. Her work protecting the human rights of ethnic minorities sparked her interest in their handicrafts, which led her to open the shop. The shop is lined with accessories and fabrics that she has collected during her visits to the region.

Apparently the building was built 30 years ago and moved to this location. Time flies when you take your time to look around.
