"Setagaya Fresh Yuzu Shichimi" costs 897 yen per bottle. This fresh type is full of fresh aroma, sourness, and spiciness, and also has the appealing flavor of salt koji. Just dissolving a small amount in miso soup or hot pot sauce doubles the umami! 
This is an upcycled yuzu jam made from the yuzu pulp that is produced during the process of making "Setagaya Yuzu Shichimi," called "Yuzu no Tsuzuki," and a three-item assortment called the "Nanatoni Set" for 2,691 yen.
The vegetables and seasonings from Tokyo are better than you might imagine, and Nanatoni, a shop from Setagaya, embodies this idea.
The team harvests soybeans and wheat in a small field in the Setagaya area and makes homemade miso paste. The name "Nanatoni" comes from the 72 seasons of Japan, or the 72 seasons of the year, which have been passed down since ancient times. They are working to convey the importance of handcrafts that allow them to feel the changing of the seasons and coexist with the seasons.
One of their signature products is "Setagaya Yuzu Shichimi." Made with pesticide-free yuzu grown mainly in Setagaya and grown in Tokyo, the yuzu is peeled and dried immediately after being picked, concentrating the aroma. In addition to chili peppers, also grown in Setagaya, all ingredients, including Japanese pepper and sesame, are sourced in Japan with high quality. The chili peppers have a rounded, pleasant spiciness and are packed with umami.
The coarsely ground shichimi is surprisingly fragrant, and just a small amount sprinkled on brings out the yuzu flavor!
Another item is the fresh "Setagaya Nama Yuzu Shichimi," which combines fresh yuzu peel with carefully selected ingredients such as chili peppers from Setagaya, Japanese pepper and plums from Wakayama, with salt koji as the key ingredient. Because it is not heat-treated, the aroma and flavor are incredibly fresh.
This shichimi series is released every January and will be discontinued once it is sold out. Currently, preparations are underway for its release in 2026. This versatile shichimi, born in Tokyo, is truly fragrant.
