Singer-songwriter Eiko Ishibashi presents music to Gen Hoshino. "A song for when you decide to go skydiving."

For the future, for the future that will come someday. A musical gift from someone who knows Gen Hoshino Gen well as a person and a musician. We asked him to choose a song he would like Hoshino to listen to someday, along with an anecdote about his relationship with Hoshino.

When I look back on the songs I played with Gen-san, I remember many things. One song I will never forget is "Night Boat," which we recorded in a studio late at night. When the lyrics say "everyone was asleep," I could almost see the scenery of the city in the distance.

I remember when I made a mistake during the opening of "Kuse no Uta" during the 2019 tour, and was feeling frustrated and deeply depressed, when Minamoto-san wrote me a kind letter.

Gen-san must have been touring under many times more pressure than me, but he always looked after the other members. He must have been listening to a lot of music and was tired from touring, so I came up with a song imagining the unlikely scenario of "what if we had to go skydiving."

"Albatross" by Fleetwood Mac
This English rock band has a career spanning over 50 years. It's a song that makes you feel like you can fly anywhere. I think it would be great to listen to it while skydiving in your mind.
"Recollections" Miles Davis
This song comes from the period when Miles Davis was exploring experimental music. It gives the feeling of looking down on yourself while flying, so I chose it as I thought it would be a good fit for skydiving.
"Shipbuilding" Robert Wyatt
This song is by a singer-songwriter who is also known for his work with Soft Machine. It's a song that will fly you in your place, even if you can't fly, so I highly recommend you listen to it.
