A spacious one-room apartment connected by an arched opening
He wanted to live in a low-rise apartment on a hill. He wanted to live in a house filled with all the things he loved. He spent 20 years searching for his ideal property. Kunihiko Hosoda, a designer at interior design studio Housetrad, owns a room in a vintage apartment on a hill away from the city center. He purchased the property in 2023. The approximately 100m² 5LDK apartment has been fully renovated into a 2LDK for his wife, daughter and their family. He designed it himself, of course.

"What I aimed for was a relaxed one-room design. Although the living/dining room, audio room, and bedroom are separated, I wanted the house to somehow feel connected as a whole. Even in areas where the walls couldn't be demolished structurally, I didn't add doors, and instead connected the spaces softly with arched openings."
You can hear your family's voices and the sound of records no matter where you are, and it's nice to have a place that's just the right amount of enclosed.
"The atmosphere of each room changes depending on the color and material of the walls and ceiling. The dining room, which receives natural light, has white plaster that reflects the light. The audio room has a muted pink ceiling and tasteful solid wood walls. The bedroom has a calm impression with light gray walls and an oak ceiling."
What kind of furniture and tableware does Kunihiko Hosoda find so appealing?
