Interviewer: Personal trainer Takuya Shirato
A gym where visitors can easily work up a sweat
Demand for fitness, which has fallen due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is on track to surpass its previous peak by 2025. "The image of gyms dominated by macho regulars is already a thing of the past. With muscle training now accepted by a wide range of people, including women, the atmosphere has recently become more cheerful and open," says Takuya Shirato, a personal trainer with extensive experience in the industry. Even beginners are welcome to drop in as visitors.
"First of all, you can't miss Gold's Gym, known as the 'Disneyland for workouts.' And then there's Tip.Cross Tokyo Shibuya, which is conveniently located. Both take advantage of their spaciousness to offer fully equipped studio programs and agility training, allowing you to work up a sweat. If you're looking for a gym that specializes in machines, try Lift Gym in the basement of Omotesando Hills or Wonder Life, which has a photogenic space. Their stoic atmosphere is stimulating and will boost your motivation."
If you want to work up a sweat more casually, there are also boutique gyms that offer hourly group classes.
"For an hour to 90 minutes, all you have to do is immerse yourself in the music and follow the instructions to move your body, so it's refreshing and doesn't require any specialized knowledge. Please come and experience the joy of working up a sweat at your favorite gym."
