My companion for over 30 years, and still my companion for business meetings and travels
Only office workers carry bags. That was the image I had when I was a student, and in fact, many young people went empty-handed. That's why even now, I only use a bag when I'm traveling or for business meetings to carry fabric or clothing samples. This leather case can hold about three or four shirts, and is just right for a two-day trip. I believe it's from the 1940s, and I bought it at an antique shop in London more than 30 years ago.
It has a pocket on the front with a seamless bottom, and it's rare to see such elaborate construction these days. It has a nice appearance, so I can't let it go. It comes with a garment case I bought at a market on the West Coast of the United States about 40 years ago. Sometimes I use it alone as a bag to store my clothes. It was a US military item from the 1960s, and the name of the owner at the time is embroidered in a style reminiscent of a Sukajan jacket.
In the old days, airplanes had racks for hanging clothes, so I would cram about 20kg of clothes into this case and carry it on for free.
