I'm quite big, so even if I wear a hat or sunglasses, I'm easily recognized, so I don't have many opportunities to enjoy a casual meal out. However, I like the Euljiro area because, among the many old buildings, there are many young people running interesting restaurants. After I discovered the natural wine bistro PER three or four years ago, I started looking forward to going there even more.
Until then, I'd been a young drinker, gulping down soju (shochu) and highballs in one go, but at this bar, I became hooked on the depth of natural wine, enjoying it slowly while listening to the owner talk about the producers and their regions. On days when I'm in a good mood, I open a bottle of "Serragghia - Zibibbo Bianco," with its distinctive arrow-shaped label. I drink it while talking about wine with friends, and it's interesting to see how different people perceive it, sometimes tasting earthy, sometimes smelling like perfume.
Even while I'm eating, I find myself observing how people drink and the behavior of the waiters (laughs). When I write the script for "BDNS," I try to express the unique aspects of people who are generally known but don't receive much attention from the public. I think the people-watching I do unconsciously on a daily basis is also useful when I act. I'd also like to visit a natural wine bar in Tokyo.
