The film is directed by a manager from the entertainment agency Titan, and the main cast is the comedy duo Manju Daiteikoku, who are also affiliated with Titan. The comedians have always had a passion for manzai, so I went to the cinema excited to see such a family-like cast!
The story follows the protagonist Minoru, played by Kazuki Takeuchi, as he is forced to choose between becoming a comedian or taking over his family's apple orchard. I have been working in the entertainment industry since I was three years old, and I always feel that I am in a very fortunate position, but I have also seen my friends leave the entertainment industry in order to think about their future.
There are times when the desire to pursue your dreams alone is not enough. I empathized deeply with this realistic portrayal. Also, the stand-up comedy scene at the end of the film had me laughing and crying at the same time. I think that's amazing.
The sight of the audience, initially wary, gradually becoming more and more engaged is what moves me the most when I watch comedy live. And it's only because of the protagonist's anguish and struggles that laughter leads to tears. This movie reaffirmed to me that making people laugh is a beautiful act.
