My watch. Mountain Research designer Masahiro Abe and the Seiko 150m Hybrid Diver

Some people wear their favorite watches regardless of whether they are men's or women's, while others use them as tools. It could be said that watches are now being enjoyed more freely. Mountain Research designer Masahiro Abe talks about a watch he loves.

I received this watch from my teacher on my birthday. Even if I don't wear it, just looking at it makes me happy.

I usually wear an outdoor watch. The Casio Pro Trek I bought at the unlucky age of 42 is a great watch that doesn't require a battery and can tell you the temperature, air pressure, direction and altitude. I wear it almost every day, but the one I'm most attached to is this Seiko, which I received from our CEO, Setsumasa Kobayashi, on my 50th birthday.

Both the dial and the strap are orange. Kobayashi replaced the strap, which is a standard color for outdoor wear and has been used by Mountain Research for many years. On a side note, Kobayashi gave me an old GPS for my 40th birthday.

A gift related to location and time every 10 years. It feels like my teacher is silently pressuring me, saying, "I'm always watching over you," but at the same time, I can sense his love (laughs). It's a film that really energizes me.

Released in 1982, this was the world's first diver's watch with a digital alarm chronograph function. Known for being worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film, it's also known as "Arnie." "The contrast between a mountain lover wearing a diver's watch is interesting, isn't it?"
