Paintings that are actually created using the power of nature
Yoriko Takabatake's "LINE(N)"
Artist Yoriko Takabatake has used natural forces such as wind, water, fire, and magnetism to transform oil paints in various ways, developing her own unique methodology in painting, much like a scientist conducting an experiment. Now, in her new series, LINE(N), she has focused on "mechanics."
This series is created using a single line, utilizing the principles of gravity and the rotation that occurs when twisting and winding thread. In addition to this work, the artist will also be showcasing works created by, for example, wrapping a canvas around a cylinder and hanging it from the ceiling with a string, causing it to move in a circular motion.
