A self-portrait in which colors play freely and dance
Masato Mori's "10 PM"
Mori Masato's paintings are characterized by vivid colors and complex textures, yet also have a somewhat comical and light-hearted impression. His creative roots lie in manga, video games, and animation from the early 1980s, as well as insect collecting and playing in the river. He later taught himself painting, and I believe he is a rare artist who is able to sublimate his own purity into his work.
He is also deeply involved with underground music, and continues to explore the relationship between art and music. This painting is a self-portrait of his, and is interesting to look at for its beautiful colors, as well as the layered lines and brushstrokes.
