A talisman of the hearth god, the fire god

Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo Ward is known as a famous spot for its azaleas. It is said to have been founded by Emperor Yamato Takeru about 1,900 years ago, and is counted as one of the Ten Great Shrines of Tokyo. Recently, it has been attracting attention for its crowdfunding campaign to relocate the former residence of Mori Ogai, who was originally a parishioner of Nezu Shrine, to the shrine grounds.
This shrine offers a wide variety of offerings. One of these is the Kamadogami Ofuda. Kamadogami, as the name suggests, is the god of the hearth in the kitchen. Kamadogami is considered the god of fire and has been worshipped as a guardian deity who protects the home. Places where hearths are located are also believed to be the boundary between the world of the gods and this world. This is an ofuda that is enshrined in such a kitchen. It comes as a set of gohei and ofuda for Okutsuhikonokami, Okutsuhime-no-mikoto, and Kagutsuchi, known as the three gods of the hearth.
