I've tried a lot of different shoes, but in the end I chose this one

I've basically been an Adidas fan all my life, and the first pair I bought was the Country. It's the classic green line. I've also worn the Stan Smith, Gazelle, and Superstar, but I think it was two years ago, when I got this pair of shoes in collaboration with Wales Bonner, that rekindled my Country fever. These sneakers were a throwback to my roots, and allowed me to rediscover my roots.

Customize your shoes by replacing the sole

These German trainers were originally purchased to be sold. The sole broke during the process, so I repaired them for myself and wore them, and before I knew it, they had become a staple. I deliberately replaced the Vibram sole with a different color from the original, giving them a fresh look. I feel that we are now in a good time for vintage shoes, as we can find ways to keep them in good condition rather than throwing them away.

Sneakers you'll want to stock up on

This collaboration shoe, which has not yet been released in Japan, has been released many times with different designs. The upper color and embroidery design change each time, but each one hits the spot for me! Whenever I find them online, I buy them immediately and gradually collect them. If you see them somewhere, please let me know (lol). I recently bought my third pair in black. If you look closely, you'll see that the tongue tag is STÜSSY-style, which is nice.

I was drawn to the deep, shining gold color.

The Clyde, the predecessor to Puma's classic Suede, was a staple on the feet of hip-hop stars in the mid-1980s and a coveted item. This gold color in particular is a rare color that is difficult to reproduce these days. I love this color scheme so much that I would like to try it if I ever get the chance to make sneakers. The thick toe and narrow width, which are characteristic of the careful craftsmanship of basketball shoes from that time, are also appealing.

Japanese American Standard

Classic jogging shoes like Nike's Cortez and Adidas' SL are timeless staples of American casual style. However, as a Japanese person, I would like to recommend Onitsuka Tiger, a brand that was also competing in America at the same time. In particular, the California was featured alongside these shoes in the early days of the magazine POPEYE. I would like to savor the hidden standard of that time with these shoes.

Even though I have them in different colors, it's still not enough

Since I walk a lot, my standard is to choose sneakers that I can wear for long periods of time without getting tired. I have several pairs of "GEL-SONOMA 15-50" in different colors, and this one is a collaboration with A.P.C. I can do a little exercise with them, and they're probably the sneakers I take with me most often when traveling. I usually pair them with GORE-TEX® track pants.
