The wine, the food, and the owner are all genuine and honest.

It brought a buzz to the Marutamachi area, where nights used to fall early, and is now one of the first names that comes to mind when talking about natural wine in Kyoto. The building used to be a second-hand bookstore, with its casual atmosphere where bottles are lined up on the original bookshelves, the gentle personality of owner Takuma Hasegawa, the unpretentious but reliable food, and the wine... All of these things combine to make this bar a place that has captivated many.

Takuma Hasegawa, owner of Kuma Wine House (Kyoto/Jingu Marutamachi)

Hasegawa says he had an epiphany when he discovered Claude Courtois and felt his body craving him. Since then, he has been dedicated to wines that are "made solely from grapes, without fear of risk," ever since he was in charge of service at his previous restaurant.
